Middletown Rust #1
16"x24"
Acrylic on panel
The Middletown Rust series of paintings were inspired by photographs I took of a local building that collapsed this past winter under the unusually heavy load of ice and snow. My choice of using acrylics and palette knives had to do with the textures that made the photographs interesting to me. I had no desire to attempt photo realistic paintings but I wanted to capture the feeling of the texture of the surfaces. The fast drying time of acrylic paint allowed me to work in layers without waiting weeks or months for paint to dry.
